A. Soape - President
Roger A. Soape, CPL, is the
president and majority shareholder of Roger A.
Soape, Inc., the land services firm he founded
Prior to founding the firm, Roger was a
field landman associated with J.L. Schneider &
Co. He is the president of the 20,000-member
American Association of Professional Landmen,
which named him its Landman of the Year in 2009.
Roger is a former chairman of NAPE and of
AAPLís ethics committee.
He is a past president of the Houston
Association of Professional Landmen, which
previously named him its Landman of the Year.
He is also a member of the North Houston
Association of Professional Landmen, the Texas
Oil & Gas Association, the Texas Independent
Producers & Royalty Owners Association, and the
Independent Petroleum Association of America.
He is a trustee of The West
Endowment, which distributes charitable grants
to public and medical research causes, a
director of the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine
Arts, and a member of the Texas Advisory Board
of Canine Companions for Independence.
Roger is a native Texan and attended the
University of Texas at Austin.
Roger is an instrument-rated private
pilot and a stress & rescue certified scuba
He and his wife, Donna, are members or
John Wesley United Methodist Church.
Frank Robinson - Vice President
C. Frank Robinson, CPL, is the
vice president and shareholder of Roger A.
Soape, Inc., where he has been employed since
Frank qualified as a Certified
Professional Landman in 1989 and is an active
member of the Houston Association of
Professional Landmen, the North Houston
Association of Professional Landmen and the
American Association of Professional Landmen.
He was one of the original instructors of
AAPLís beginner landman course.
Frank earned his degree in Agriculture
Economics from Texas A&M University in 1981,
following which he was employed as a lease
analyst with Sanchez Ė OíBrien Oil & Gas in
Frank maintains his certification with
continuing education of more than ten hours per
year with courses offered by the AAPL, including
environmental site assessment courses, and the
Advanced Oil and Gas Short Courses sponsored by
the University of Houston Law Foundation.
Frank has served on the board of The Fay
School and on the board of the Dadís Club as
President and Vice President.
Frank is married to the former Debbie
Davis and they are the parents of three
daughters and a son.
He and his family are members of St.
Martinís Episcopal Church.
Will Holstien - Senior Project Manager
Will Holstien, CPL, is the senior project
manager of Roger A. Soape, Inc., where he has
been employed since 2005. He earned his
bachelorís degree in government from the
University of Texas at Austin. Following
graduation, Will was a research assistant at the
Austin oil & gas law firm of McElroy, Sullivan &
Miller, LLP. He is a member of the American
Association of Professional Landmen and the
Houston Association of Professional Landmen.
Will actively volunteers with the Houston
Livestock Show & Rodeo and other Houston area
Andrew Cooper - Project Manager
C. Andrew Cooper, CPL, is the project manager of
Roger A. Soape, Inc., where he has been employed
since 2006. Andrew received his bachelorís
degree in political science with a minor in
business administration from the University of
Texas at Austin, following which he was a legal
assistant with Minton, Burton, Foster & Collins,
an Austin law firm. Andrew is a member of the
Houston Association of Professional Landmen, North Houston Association of Landmen and
the American Association of Professional Landmen. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the NHAPL.
Loren Grabau - Accounting Manager
Loren Grabau is the Accounting Manager of Roger
A. Soape, Inc. where he has been employed since
2009. Loren received his bachelorís degree from
Texas A&M University earning a Bachelorís of
Business Administration in Finance. Loren
previously worked in internal audit for
Protiviti before starting with Roger A. Soape,
Inc. Loren works to process Accounts Payable,
Account Receivables, and Vendor issues. He has
significant previous experience with GIS,
databases and spreadsheets. Loren is responsible
for answering billing inquiries and other
various office responsibilities.
Julie Grabau - GIS Manager
She manages workflow, trains and mentors
the GIS Analysts in cartographic design,
technique and maintaining the quality expected
at Roger A. Soape, Inc. She worked for many
years in business accounting AP/AR was later
educated at Texas A&M University, earning a B.S.
in Geography, with a Minor in Geoinfomatics.
Julie joined Roger A. Soape, Inc. in 2004. She
is responsible for creating the customized
client database and map spatial database for
each client project, creating standard and
custom reports and queries. Julie is experienced
in using GIS software being sure to adhere to
quality cartographic principles & design. She
creates and produces maps to meet customer
requests and changing requirements. Size and
scope of projects range from small prospects of
a few acres to projects of over 100,000 acres.

personal to visualization of information on a
map to best meet the specifications of our
Leslie Arbour - Assistant Accounting Manager
Leslie Arbour is the assisting account
manager at Roger A. Soape, Inc. and has been
with the company since 2007. While working for
RAS, Inc., she has completed her Bachelor's in
Business Administration through Sam
Houston State University. She is responsible for
much of our billing entry and collection of all
landman invoicing. Outside of the office, Leslie
enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her
Caryn Rugg - Administrative Assistant
Caryn Ruggís cheerful voice is what you will
hear when you call the office. Caryn joined
Roger A. Soape, Inc. in 2012. She earned her
Bachelorís degree in Broadcast Journalism from
the University of Houston. In her free time she
enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter,
fishing and shopping.
Katie LaRue - Lease Analyst
Katie LaRue joined Roger A. Soape, Inc. in 2012 after returning to Houston from Austin with her husband. Katie attended Converse College in South Carolina where she earned undergraduate degrees in business and music, before heading to Baylor University to earn a Masters’ degree in flute performance. Her business and real estate background allowed her to launch into a career in right of way as an acquisition/relocation agent and eminent domain project oversight manager for United States Right of Way, Inc. Katie transitioned into an in-house land position for a private oil and gas company in 2011. She has served on many boards in her community including the Houston Symphony Young Professionals Backstage and as president of the Austin Flute Society.
Joe Manak - GIS Analyst
Joe Manak is a GIS Analyst at Roger A. Soape, Inc., where he has been employed since 2011. He is currently responsible for map creation and database management. Joe earned his Bachelor's degree in English from Texas State University and is currently pursing certification and a Master's in GIS through Penn State University. He is also a registered member of the AAPL from his previous work as an independent petroleum landman. In his free time, Joe enjoys watching his Texans every Sunday during football season.
